Crypto’s bumper start to 2023 only got better in its second week, with a 20+% jump in $ETH leading to a 23.2% rise in total VRE land cap USD-denominated, though just 2.26% in $ETH terms, for the 10 projects listed on OneLand.
Context:
- Treeverse closed its Pre-Alpha game testing, leading to a comedown in land sales activity from the hype of the first week of 2023, volume -63.6% week-on-week. But floor prices (+84%) and land cap (+5%) are up since Jan 1.
- Otherside received its top sale (93 ETH) since Sep 27.
- Metaverse tokens have been on a bull run this year, outperforming the rest of the crypto market. $MANA rocketed 85.7% in the past 7 days alone, up 141% in 2023.
Highlight:
NFT Worlds enjoyed its top sale for a World (3.0ETH) and highest daily trade volume in (10.82 ETH) in three months.
NFT Worlds announced that development is ahead of schedule, while they are looking to airdrop more in-game items to the community and upgrade their system as they ready to launch a new game in 2023.

Apple will launch its highly anticipated mixed-reality headset in June, according to a Bloomberg report. Expected to be a standalone device with a built-in computer and not reliant on an iPhone, the headset will be usable for both AR and VR.

Upland reported over 5 million NFTs sold in 2022. The metaverse platform mapped to the real world now has a user base of over 3 million, with 290,000 unique landowners, 5 times larger than the three biggest metaverses.
Upland recently partnered with FIFA to deliver a virtual experience for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar incl. a full-sized digital replica of Lusail Stadium in Doha.

El Salvador

El Salvador passed a law for issuance of digital assets other than Bitcoin that should pave the way to the introduction of a BTC-backed bond, aka ‘Volcano Bonds’.
FTX
- Jan 12
FTX’s bankruptcy attorney announced that over $5bn in assets have been recovered, a pleasant surprise given the $1bn figure mentioned by new CEO John Ray last month. However, total assets “held” by FTX are still estimated at about $20bn.

Binance Academy kicked off its Metaverse Study Week. Registered Binance users can earn up to 50k BUSD in rewards by reading Binance Academy articles and completing tasks,
Dungeons & Dragons

Wizards of the Coast, publisher of famous game Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), said it will scrap planned license changes affecting fan-created content and projects. NFTs are likely to be prohibited under the updated license, as per Minecraft’s ruling in May.
